Did you know that Pineridge is a Calgary Reads School?

We're looking for a few GREAT volunteers to support our students in their literacy journey.
Please consider becoming a Calgary Reads Volunteer for our school and help unlock a child’s potential.

As a Calgary Reads volunteer you can expect training and ongoing support. You’ll make a huge difference in a child’s life, right now and in the future. It’s a meaningful experience — one of accomplishment and satisfaction.

Calgary Reads two primary reading/tutoring programs are called ‘wee read’ and ‘Read Up!’.

‘wee read’ is about reading aloud and sharing the joy of reading with kindergarten and Grade 1 students. Most of our reading volunteers start as ‘wee read’ volunteers, and commit to 30 minutes per week for 8 weeks.

‘Read Up!’ is about reading with a young reader in Grade 1 or 2. Volunteers usually have experience in the ‘wee read’ program before graduating to ‘Read Up!’. ‘Read Up!’ volunteers receive advanced tutoring training and commit to two 45 minutes sessions, for at least 35 sessions.

If you're interested in becoming a Calgary Reads volunteer or would like more information, please contact Mrs. Saarenoja at 403-777-6750 ext 2.
