Why do we Fundraise?


Did you know: Our school operates on an allocated budget each year, to provide a basic education for our students. This budget is to cover costs related to the smooth and efficient running of the school and to provide an intentional educational program linked to the Alberta Program of Studies, using basic classroom materials and supplies.  It also is used to support costs associated with school technology, office supplies, and music and gymnasium equipment.  Funds raised from PSPA fundraisers and events are used to provide additional opportunities, experiences, and materials to our students they otherwise would not receive. Items typically paid for by PSPA fundraising efforts include in-school residency programs (i.e. dance, athletic and theatre programs), additional field trips, and items for our school that promote interactive and engaged learning.

Without your support, via the PSPA, these items and opportunities would not be available to our students. With your help, and continued support of our events and fundraisers, we hope to be able to provide even more opportunities to our students going forward!

For specific examples on some of the things the PSPA pays for, supports and/or organizes, here is a list of SOME of things the PSPA paid for between Sept 2016 and January 2018:

- Paid for $27,913.89 worth of school upgrades (various purchases relating to the Kindergarten room, music room, gymnasium, the learning commons, technology, and much more)
- Paid for $37,455.51 worth of opportunities/experiences and materials for our students! (Think: alien skating, trickster, lacrosse, dance, books, agendas, field trips, and swim bussing, the community gardens and presenters)

- Paid $1,520.09 towards club support (Me to We/leadership club, Patrollers Picnic, the student entrepreneur project)
- Raised $71,277.43 via PSPA fundraising initiatives! (Including a casino fundraiser, catalogue fundraisers, cash calendar raffle ticket sales, cookie dough sales, cash donations and fun lunches)
- Hosted and/or co hosted or sponsored 4 family/community events including a dance, a family fun fitness night, a toy bingo, and a family rollerblading night!
- Established a Facebook page, a website (pineridgeparents.blogspot.ca), a clear volunteer program, a list of food resources for families in need (see our website) and more, to keep you in the know and feeling supported!
- and more!!! (Seriously! There is more!)
Note: these $/upgrades/opportunities/events etc. would NOT have been possible or available to our students or school if it wasn’t for the PSPA and families who support and volunteer for our fundraisers and events.  Many schools go without any of this - the things mentioned above are extras (school budgets/school fees don’t pay for them), that require an active parent association and volunteer community in order to make them possible, and many schools don’t have this.  SO!  A HUGE thank you goes out to our school for scheduling and organizing the upgrades and residencies listed above too, because without their cooperation they wouldn’t happen either.
